You can use this page if you want to request x̄á’isla translations from language and orthography specialist Ab Morrison-Hayward.

Please keep the following in mind:

• there are few words for modern concepts. For example, there are no x̄á’isla words for things like computers, industry, etc. If it didn’t exist 200-300 years ago, there might not be a word for it
• x̄á’isla is a very literal language, there are few instances of figurative speech (metaphors, similes, hyperbole, etc.). For instance, you wouldn’t be able to say something like “water is life” because you wouldn’t normally say that one thing is something else in x̄á’isla
• I would like to know what you’re planning on doing with the information that I give you, it could affect how I conduct my research

I will conduct research to make sure that I have the most accurate information possible. I don’t know how long it will take for me to collect the information so I your patience will be appreciated. Once I have conducted my research, I’ll send you what I have found (if anything) in the standard writing system, which is the x̄á’isla hybrid orthography (no “phonetic” spelling). Recordings can be requested if you want to hear the word pronounced.

I will post the results of the translation request here so that other people can take a look in case they were thinking of submitting a similar request. If they find it here, they won’t need to send a new request themselves. You will remain anonymous, only the written translation will appear on this website.
